during my philosophy unit in my humanities class we read a few things by aristotle
in one of which he addressed pursuing excellence as a means to reach 'eudaimonia' -- or happiness, specifically "the good life." anyways, to pursue these excellences (which we have the capacity for, since our bodies perform for our souls, being the actuality to the potentiality) we should reach a 'mean'; a middle ground between extremes.
